Thomas Robitaille, Chief Technical Officer, Founder

Tom leads strategy and development for the glue and glupyter software packages.

Before moving full-time into software development and data science, Tom was an accomplished astrophysicist, leading his own research group from 2011 to 2015 at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. As a researcher, Tom worked primarily on analyzing and modeling large sets of observations that trace star formation within the Milky Way. Before working on glue, Tom developed Hyperion, an open-source 3-d Monte-Carlo Radiative Transfer code. Tom's ongoing work in astronomy software includes serving as a co-ordinator and lead developer for the Astropy project.

In addition to software development work, Tom also teaches scientific programming with Python to students and researchers.
